Because of his expertise as an Olympic champion skeet shooter (1937), Charles, aka Robert, Stack was assigned to teach anti-aircraft gunnery. In honor of his three years of service, Stack was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle Ribbon, and Expert Pistol Ribbon. In 1944 he served upon the USS Hancock and in 1945 the USS Sitkoh Bay. Five Stack family members were in the Navy during WWII including an admiral who served as an aide to President Roosevelt and another was a seaman second class. Stack was discharged in 1945 as a full lieutenant. Robert continued on a heroic path in his life eventually dedicating his work to finding America's most wanted criminals. He never stopped fighting the bad guys.
